Author of Emotional Intelligence Dr. Daniel Goleman’s has collaborated with American Management Association (AMA) to design seminars on emotional intelligence to help employees and executives better manage themselves and their professional relationships with others. The Leading with Emotional Intelligence classroom-based seminar now will also be available live online. The live online seminar includes interactions with an AMA instructor and other participants.

Leading with Emotional Intelligence will help executives recognize the benefits of emotional intelligence to both personal development and leadership effectiveness. Attendees will learn how to develop EI competencies, identify personal strengths and areas for development using the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI), and leverage appropriate EI competencies in order to achieve results. The seminar will also help participants create a culture that delivers results through effective work relationships and build a developmental action plan that strengthens emotional intelligence skills.

The curriculum is based on Dr. Goleman’s research and book Leadership: The Power of Emotional Intelligence – Selected Writings and the lessons will include:

Lesson 1
What is Emotional Intelligence and Why Does it Matter to Leaders?
—Defining Emotional Intelligence (EI) and its impact on effective leadership
—Making the business case for EI
—Relating the behaviors, impact and challenges of EI on workplace performance

Emotional Intelligence Competency Framework
—Applying the four domains in the EI model to leadership
—Explaining the relevant competencies associated with each domain
—Utilizing EI to increase effectiveness in critical work relationships

Self-Assessment Results
—Debriefing the ESCI profile
—Selecting developmental areas for enhancing your EI skills

—Identifying the six leadership styles and their impact on a leader’s effectiveness
—Assessing your use of each of the leadership styles

—Considering perspectives of others regarding one’s emotional competence
—Using EI to develop self, improve critical work relationships, and contribute to positive business outcomes
