Canada’s Fastest Growing Japanese Automaker has reported a year-to-date sales increase of 20.7 percent with eight successive months of sales increases.
With 3,572 units sold, Subaru Canada notched a 17.7 percent increase over last October, marking eight consecutive months of sales records. It is currently Canada’s fastest growing Japanese automaker. All regions across Canada enjoyed record growth this October, while Ontario revelled in its highest sales month ever.
The latest sales figures show that the Subaru XV Crosstrek – Canada’s most fuel-efficient, all-wheel-drive compact crossover – set a new milestone with results up 25.1 percent year over year, besting its previous highest sales by 15.5 percent. Putting the “Sport” back into SUV, the Forester is Subaru’s bestselling model this October with sales up a whopping 108.3 percent with 1,102 units sold. October results are also excellent for the BRZ as Subaru’s nimble, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe increased sales by 27.5 percent over the same period last year. Not to be outdone, Subaru’s fun-to-drive compact car, the Impreza, also edged forward, up one percent this October.
The pace of growth of a single automaker is likely to draw attention of competitors and investors alike. Especially in a country just adjacent to North America, the market presents tremendous opportunities for the industry given the cultural and geographical proximities. The competition is likely to study and attempt to extract key success factors that it can replicate. It is likely that similar models will penetrate the market given the profit gap to be exploited.
